Gyeongju is a city located in the southeastern part of the Korean peninsula. It was the capital of the Silla Dynasty for a thousand years from the 1st to the 9th centuries AD. Gyeongju contains so many historical sites and cultural assets that the entire city is considered to be a museum without walls. Most prominently, Gyeongju is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto, Yangdong traditional village, and the Gyeongju Historic Areas.
